Juneteenth Event Parking Tips

The City of Annapolis will play host to the 2022 Juneteenth Celebration and Parade June 17th and June 18th. For complete event details, please visit www.the annapolis juneteenth.org. Please find below parking tips and additional information for attendees. 

Celebrating Juneteenth 2022 in Annapolis

June 17 – The Gala

>> A VIP Reception and Awards Ceremony will take place beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday June 17 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Annapolis. Cost of the event is $100. African attire is requested but not required. For ticket information to the Gala, visit: https://tinyurl.com/Annapolis-Juneteenth-Gala

June 18 – The Parade

>>Noon to 2:00 p.m. The celebration continues Saturday with a Juneteenth Parade that begins at City Dock at noon and ends at Bates Athletic Complex. City Dock is not only home to the Alex Haley Memorial, but is a designated “UNESCO Middle Passage Site of Remembrance,” indicating the role of the Annapolis port as a destination for the trade of human cargo. 

>>PARADE ROUTE: The parade will go up Main Street, around Church Circle, continue on West Street to Amos Garrett Blvd., and conclude at Maryland Hall/the Bates Athletic Complex. Visitors can enjoy the parade from any spot along the route. 

>>ROAD CLOSURES: On-street parking will be limited along the parade route. Annapolis Police will have rolling road closures along the parade route until its conclusion. Be alert to police direction and follow detours. 

>>PARKING: US Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is preferred parking for this event. At $10 per vehicle for the entire day, Juneteenth parade and festival attendees should enter through GATE FIVE (entrance off Taylor Avenue). A free shuttle will run from the stadium to the parade and festival (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), and then from the stadium to the festival (12:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.). Other parking options include Park Place, Knighton and Gotts garages. For information on these parking destinations, visit www.annapolisparking.com

June 18 – The Festival

>>2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The parade will conclude at Bates Athletic Complex where the festival will include live music and entertainment, vendors, food and a Freedom Way display. At the end of the night, a fireworks display will go off. Admission to the festival is free. 

>>PARKING: US Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is preferred parking for this event. Historic Maryland Avenue

Location: Maryland Avenue (Maryland State House to United States Naval Academy

Relive history with a stroll along Maryland Avenue from the Maryland State House to the gate of the United States Naval Academy, a historic path that was often frequented by Thomas Jefferson. Sit on the steps of the Chase Lloyd House where Jefferson once sketched, or visit the local book store where Jefferson spent hours reading and studying. Also located on the three-block path are world-class custom jewelers, antique shops, galleries, and restaurants.
